Richland hosted presentations on water harvesting

Sustainable Community Building — Continuously committed to its vision to build sustainable local and world community, Richland College hosted the DCCCD’s Clean Economy Series on June 27 -28 with two presentations by Nate Downey, permaculture practitioner and award-winning author of “Harvest the Rain: How to Enrich Your Life by Seeing Every Storm as a Resource.” In his presentation, “Water is the New Solar,” on June 27, Downey proposed that the water-harvesting industry will soon join solar energy as an economic engine driving us toward real sustainability. His June 28 presentation, “The Bold, New American Landscape, Part 2: Active Water Harvesting with Cisterns,” described the five functions of cistern systems: collection, conveyance, filtration, storage, distribution, tank type options and accessories.
