Women’s soccer edges Mountain View College, 1-0

After going through a midseason setback, the Richland College women’s soccer team got back to its winning ways on Friday, Oct. 1 after defeating Mountain View College, 1-0, to improve to 4-1 in Metro Athletic Conference play.

Sophomore Cassie Hoard of Richardson scored the lone goal for the T-Ducks, who snapped a three-game winning streak.

“We need to get back to what we did at the beginning of the season when we were really affective. A lot of that is possession-style soccer,” Richland head coach Scott Toups said. “Lately, we have played a lot of direct soccer and it hasn’t worked for us but we will get it back.”

The T-Ducks (7-5) will have plenty of opportunities to build on their momentum as they are scheduled to play four games this week. Richland will host North Lake College at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Allen at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday before traveling to play Eastfield Junior College at 4 p.m. on Friday and Tyler Junior College at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
