VOLLEYBALL TEAM PLAYS AT HOME TONIGHT; LOOKS TO IMPROVE TO 3-0 IN CONFERENCE PLAY

When the volleyball plays North Lake College at 7 p.m. at home tonight, the T-Ducks will look to improve to 3-0 in Metro Athletic Conference action.

Last week, the volleyball squad defeated Eastfield College, 25-12, 25-7, 25-19, and Mountain View College, 25-6, 25-5, 25-7. The T-Ducks also split two matches on Saturday, beating Western Texas College, 25-23 , 25-20 , 23-25 , 21-25 , 15-12, before falling to Navarro College, 25-18 , 25-12 , 25-20.

After tonight’s home match, The T-Ducks hit the road to play Brookhaven College at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1 and Tyler Junior College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.

KAYLYN SETTLE NABS HAT TRICK; WOMEN’S SOCCER TEAM SCORES 10 GOALS IN THREE GAMES

The Richland College women’s soccer team combined to score 10 goals over a three-game span last week, finishing with a 2-0-1 record.

The T-Ducks, who beat Eastfield, 1-0, tied Cedar Valley College, 1-1, and defeated Johnson County Community College, 2-1, also moved up from No. 9 to No. 7 in the NJCAA Division III rankings released last week.

Against Eastfield, Kaylyn Settle of Mesquite scored a hat trick for Richland, which enters this week’s play with a 5-2-1 record. The T-Ducks will host Brookhaven at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29 before traveling to play Mountain View at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2.

MEN’S SOCCER TEAM READY TO HOST TOURNAMENT ON OCT. 1-4

In preparing for its tournament on Oct. 1-4, the Richland College men’s soccer team, led by Fernando Garza of Garland, won both of its games last week.

The T-Ducks (4-3-1) edged Ranger College, 2-1, on Sept. 23 and defeated San Jacinto College-South, 5-3, on Sept. 26.

Garza scored three goals and added an assist in the two games. Richland, which dropped from No. 9 to No. 12 in the NJCAA Division III rankings last week, is scheduled to play Lincoln Land at 7 p.m. on Friday and Jefferson at 11 a.m. on Sunday in tournament.
