T-Ducks Start Week With Win
After a weekend of tough games against stellar competition, the T-Ducks played host to Texas Wesleyan University’s Junior Varsity team last night. The T-Ducks started off sluggish missing a couple of point blank shots under the basket and the game started close. After the first five minutes, the Rams held a slim 10-6 lead, but the T-Ducks responded with a 13-9 run sparked by freshmen D.J. Wilson, Billy Sherakas and sophomore Javier Soria. Soon after, the lead had been stretched to 37-29 in favor of the T-Ducks with help from sophomores Nathan Smith, Cory Pace, and Robert Smith. By halftime the T-Duck lead was 18 points, 51-33.
To start the second half, the defensive intensity picked up led by freshman Duke Hamilton, Tradarreon Moreland and Wilson. Soon into the second half the T-Ducks had taken a commanding 63-35 lead. The lead was a result of offensive plays made by Hamilton, Smith, Sherakas, freshmen Michael Richardson and McMichael Jamison. Jamison finished the game with a few crowd pleasing dunks. The T-Ducks had picked up their third victory of the season with a 107-59 victory before heading to Warner, Oklahoma on Friday to take on two Division I teams: Murray State College and Connors State College.
The T-Ducks were led by Billy Sherakas (20 points, 5/8 3’s), Nathan Smith (19 points), McMichael Jamison (18 points), D.J. Wilson (14 points), and Michael Richardson (14 points). Duke Hamilton and Javier Soria did an excellent job distributing the ball as each had 5 assists. Freshman Adam Dirlbeck (Archer City HS) led the team in rebounding with 7 as the T-Ducks out-rebounded the Rams 36-23.
The T-Ducks will play host to El Centro College on Tuesday, November 15. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
