T-Ducks move to 5-2
After a tough weekend, the T-Ducks played host to El Centro College Tuesday night. The T-Ducks started out sluggish as they allowed El Centro to keep the game close. Five minutes into the game the T-Ducks held a slim two-point lead, 12-10. The T-Ducks showed their depth by making substitutions which provided a much needed energy boost, sparked by freshman Billy Sherakas, and sophomores Nathan Smith, Robert Sykes, and James Montue. With the help of the freshmen Duke Hamilton and D.J. Wilson the T-Ducks went on a 14-2 run within the next five minutes, taking a 26-12 lead. As the first half neared, the T-Ducks had taken a commanding 51-24 lead behind the play of Hamilton, Wilson, Cory Pace, Smith, Sherakas, Sykes, and freshmen Michael Richardson and Adam Dirlbeck.
In true T-Duck fashion, the T-Ducks started the second half on an 11-2 run sparked by Wilson’s defense and Hamilton’s offense. One of the many highlights for the game was an “alley-oop” two-handed dunk by sophomore Nathan Smith on a pass from freshman Duke Hamilton. The T-Ducks finished the game on a 12-9 run with the help of freshmen Tomy Otounga, Ngong Kok and McMichael Jamison.
The T-Ducks were led in scoring by sophomores Nathan Smith and Robert Sykes with 15 points each, freshman D.J. Wilson with 14 points, and freshman Billy Sherakas with 13 points. The T-Ducks shot 11 of 19 from the free throw line while out-rebounding El Centro College 35-18, including 14 offensive rebounds. Robert Sykes and Adam Dirlbeck led the way with 5 rebounds each, followed by Smith, Kok, and Jamison with 4 each.
The T-Ducks look to keep their winning ways alive by taking on Tomball College on Friday at the Subway Classic hosted by Lee College, Saturday’s opponent. The T-Ducks will be back in action on Tuesday, November 22, as they host Ballers for Christ, a Dallas Semi-Pro team. Tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
