T-Ducks look for win before starting conference play

The Richland College men’s basketball team will look to enter conference play on a winning note when the T-Ducks host the Paul Quinn JV at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s game follows a tough, 74-71, loss on Saturday, Jan 5 to NJCAA Division I Collin County Community College.

Richland, which trailed majority of the first half by double-digits battled back to only trail 35-33 at halftime.

In the second half, Richland’s big men made key plays to keep the game close. However, the T-Ducks could never take the lead, although they tied the game on a couple of occasions.

Trailing late in the contest by six points, Richland’s Jeff Steinbaugh hit a crucial 3-pointer to cut the lead to three but that’s how the game would end.

For a second game in a row to start the New Year, Tony Bishop led Richland in scoring. Bishop, along with Giordan Cole finished with 12 points. Bishop also grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.
