T-Ducks drop conference opener
A first half lead that slipped away and mistakes down the stretch doomed the Richland College basketball on Saturday against North Lake College as the T-Ducks lost their conference opener, 64-55, at home.
The loss followed a victory at home against the Paul Quinn JV on Wednesday.
After holding a 6-0 lead to start the game against North Lake College, the T-Ducks managed to take a 28-27 lead into halftime.
But too many mistakes in the second half proved to be Richland’s downfall.
Tony Bishop led RLC with a 14-point and five-rebound performance. Jeff Steinbaugh chipped in nine points, five assists and three rebounds while Chibuzo Elonu added eight points and five rebounds.
The T-Ducks will try to even their conference record when they travel to play Mountain View College at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Richland’s next home game is at 2 p.m. this Saturday against Cedar Valley College.
Baseball team’s schedule is released
The T-Ducks’ baseball team open their season at 2 p.m., Friday Feb. 1 at home against Brookhaven. Richland is a three-time national champion, with its latest title in 2004. Aside from the national championships, the T-Ducks have produced many All-American players over the years, as well as a handfull of players to compete on the professional level.
