Richland ends two-game skid with home win over Eastfield

Richland College’s basketball team picked the perfect time to win their first Metro-Athletic Conference home game on Saturday, when the T-Ducks played arguably their best game of the season in a 100-79 win over Eastfield.

The 100 points were Richland’s highest-scoring game of the season and the win came against a squad who, at one point early in the season, was the No. 1-ranked NJCAA Division III team.

Saturday’s victory also snapped a two-game losing streak and improved the T-Ducks’ records to 11-10 on the season and 2-3 in conference play.

The T-Ducks were led by Tony Bishop (33 points and 15 rebounds), Antwan Mullins (22 points, 13 assists, five rebounds), CJ Thompson (14 points and nine rebounds).

Keith Wright also contributed 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while Giordan Cole added seven points and six rebounds and Chibuzo Elonu had eight points and six rebounds.

Richland will try to win its second game in a row when the T-Ducks travel to play Brookhaven in, what on paper, looks to be a tough challenge and, according to T-Duck coach Jon Felmet, “another must-win” conference game.

Brookhaven, 19-2 on the season and 4-1 in MAC play, is currently ranked No. 2 in the NJCAA Division III.
