Bishop grabs Co-Offensive Player of Week award; T-Ducks fall to Brookhaven

Richland College forward Tony Bishop of Garland was named Co-Player of the Week in NJCAA Division III after he helped the T-Ducks split two Metro-Athletic Conference games last week.

The freshmen recorded two double-doubles, first tallying 26 points and 13 rebounds, along with two assists and two steals, in an 80-76 loss to Lamar State College.

Bishop, who shot 68 percent from the field for the week, followed that performance with his best game of the season – 33 points and 15 rebounds – in a 100-79 win over Eastfield College.

Bishop averages 13.5 points and eight rebounds per game. In other T-Duck basketball news, Richland followed Saturday’s victory over Eastfield with a 130-113 loss to Brookhaven, which is ranked No. 3 in NJCAA Division III. Richland is now 11-11 on the season and 2-4 in conference play. The T-Ducks have a bye on Saturday before traveling to play North Lake College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

The T-Ducks, whose next home game is against Mountain View College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, lost, 64-55, at home to North Lake to start conference play.
