Bishop grabs Co-Offensive Player of Week award; T-Ducks fall to Brookhaven
Richland College forward Tony Bishop of Garland was named Co-Player of the Week in NJCAA Division III after he helped the T-Ducks split two Metro-Athletic Conference games last week.
The freshmen recorded two double-doubles, first tallying 26 points and 13 rebounds, along with two assists and two steals, in an 80-76 loss to Lamar State College.
Bishop, who shot 68 percent from the field for the week, followed that performance with his best game of the season â€“ 33 points and 15 rebounds â€“ in a 100-79 win over Eastfield College.
Bishop averages 13.5 points and eight rebounds per game.Â In other T-Duck basketball news, Richland followed Saturdayâ€™s victory over Eastfield with a 130-113 loss to Brookhaven, which is ranked No. 3 in NJCAA Division III. Richland is now 11-11 on the season and 2-4 in conference play. The T-Ducks have a bye on Saturday before traveling to play North Lake College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
The T-Ducks, whose next home game is against Mountain View College at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, lost, 64-55, at home to North Lake to start conference play.
