The Richland College men’s and women’s soccer teams are holding open tryouts for anyone who wants to play in the teams’ upcoming respective seasons.
Women tryouts are scheduled to always be held from 5:30-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, Sunday, May 15, Sunday, June 5 and Sunday, July 10. The men’s tryouts are scheduled to always be held from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, Sunday, May 15, Sunday, June 5, and Sunday, July 10.
All tryouts – men and women – will be held on Richland College’s Soccer Field No. 9, located east of the campus at 12800 Abrams Rd. in Dallas 75243.

After losing two of three games in an important series against Brookhaven College, the Richland College baseball team will look to get back on a winning track at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 18 when the T-Ducks host Navarro College.
Entering the T-Ducks’ series against Brookhaven, Richland College was one game out of the playoffs and, according to coach Guy Simmons, “needed to play better than Cedar Valley College does for the rest of the way.
“We need to win at least four of six,” Simmons continued prior to his team’s weekend games. “With nine games to go we must win two more than Cedar Valley does the rest of the way.”
The T-Ducks (15-23) opened the series with a 7-4 win before dropping the final two games, 9-1 and 4-2.
Richland College’s next Metro Athletic Conference opponent is Mountain View College. The final home series of the season for the T-Ducks open with a single game at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 21 before concluding with a double header beginning at noon on Saturday, April 22.
In the teams’ previous meeting, the T-Ducks won two of three games.
The Richland College baseball team will look to turn the corner in what has been an up-and-down season when the T-Ducks open a seven-game homestand on Friday, April 15 against Brookhaven in a key Metro Athletic Conference three game series.
Richland College and Brookhaven’s series begins with Friday’s game at 2 p.m. followed by a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday, April 16.
The T-Ducks, who enter this homestand with a 14-21 overall record and 8-13 conference mark, takes a break from conference play to host Navarro College at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 18. Richland College closes out its homestand against Mountain View College in a three-game series beginning with a single game at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 22 and a double header starting at noon on Saturday, April 23.
Entering this homestand, the T-Ducks’ Rayn Salter, of Oak Point, Texas, ranks No. 3 among NJCAA Division III players in steals with 26 while John Gebhard, of Dallas, ranks No. 22 in RBIs with 25. Richland College also ranks No. 14 as a team in fielding percentage at .942.
The Richland College volleyball team will hold its final tryout for the 2011 sesaon on Sunday, April 17.
