After going through a midseason slump earlier this month, the Richland College baseball and 2009 NJCAA Division III national champions has bounced back in a major way.
The surging T-Ducks enter this week’s play having won four of its past five games, including two of three against North Lake College over the weekend.
The T-Ducks fell, 9-2, to North Lake in the opener of the three-game set before winning the final two games, 11-10 and 11-10.
The victories bring the T-Ducks within one game of reaching a .500 record. Richland, which played a tough non-conference schedule, is 17-18 on the season.
In the first NJCAA Divison III baseball poll released since the preseason, Richland College dropped from No. 1 to No. 4. The defending national champions enter this weekend’s three-game series at home against Cedar Valley College with a 13-15 overall record. The T-Ducks have already defeated Cedar Valley in two of three games this season.
The Richland College baseball team picked a good time to break out of an early slump when the T-Ducks hosted Northland Community and Technical College in a four-game series earlier this week.
After starting the season 6-2 only to lose eight of their next 11 games, the T-Ducks combined to score 61 runs en route to sweeping a four-game series over Northland Community and Technical College.
Richland opened the series with a 16-2 win that was followed by 20-0, 13-1 and 12-0 victories.
The T-Ducks, who travel to play Eastfield College in a three-game series beginning on Friday, March 12 and ending on Saturday, March 13, improved to a 13-10 record.
Richland’s next scheduled home game is at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 14 against Frank Phillips.
The Richland College baseball team will look to snap a three-game losing streak when the T-Ducks host Mountain View College in a three-game series beginning with a 2 p.m. outing on Friday, March 5.
Richland and Mountain View will playa double-header beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 6.
During the T-Ducks’ setback, they have lost 7-4 to Brookhaven College and 9-6 and 18-4 to Northeast Texas Community College.
