This week’s RLC update – Eggleston shares Baldrige models with New Zealanders

Institutional Effectiveness – Richland Executive Vice President/COO Kay Eggleston was invited by the Performance Excellence Study Awards (PESA) program, with support from the New Zealand Post, Housing New Zealand Corporation, and Business Excellence New Zealand, to present at the 2009 PESA Baldrige Recipients New Zealand Seminars in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, New Zealand. Based on U.S. Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Criteria, the New Zealand PESA program recognizes public and private-sector national role model organizations pursuing performance excellence. Dr. Eggleston illustrated how performance excellence models such as the one Richland has deployed, based on the Baldrige-framework, have helped increase performance improvement in student-learning outcomes and in organizational efficiency and effectiveness. The U.S. delegation included the 2002 first health-sector Baldrige recipient, SSM Health Care, a 20-hospital system with corporate headquarters in St. Louis, and Mesa Products, Tulsa, a 2007 business sector recipient. Charge d’affaires David Keegan met with the delegation at the U.S. Embassy in the capital city of Wellington on June 23.
