Sabine Hall, room 117.
Richland College’s Lago Vista Gallery presents the storytelling and photography of renowned storm chaser Stephen Levine. The Joy of Storm Hunting will feature several images from Levine’s adventures, acting as both documentation and a glimpse of the profound. In a geographic climate of increasing weather extremes, the work speaks of intense beauty while presenting a reminder of the natural world’s overwhelming power. During the opening reception on Wednesday, October 19th from 12-1 PM Levine will present an energetic narrative uniting his experiences and passions for storm chasing with celestial divinity. The exhibition will be on display from October 19th through November 18th, 2011.
Currently working at Richland College, Stephen Eric Levine, M.A., has been storm chasing since 1977. Often described as “magnificent” or “awe inspiring,” Levine’s images document the sublime intensity of our planet despite the dangers inherent in such a practice. In 1995 he created “Tornado Alley Safari Tours,” which allowed clients to experience lightning storms and tornados. “Tornado Alley Safari Tours” garnered national and international attention with National Geographic TV, Tom Brokaw Evening News, CBS Hardcopy, Japan Radio, and London’s UK newspaper.
