T-Dust Alert #82 – Fire Systems Inspections
WHAT? It is time for an annual inspection of Richland’s campus-wide fire alarm and suppression systems.
WHERE? The audio/visual and pull station systems, building-fire suppression system (sprinkler system), and fire extinguishers in all buildings will be inspected.
HOW? The fire suppression and fire extinguisher testing is conducted behind the scenes; however, the contractor must activate and test the operational effectiveness of the audio/visual and pull station system.
WHO? Cintas Fire Systems is the vendor contracted by the District to inspect annually all District buildings.
WHEN? Certain inspections are currently underway, but the contractor will test the audio/visual system on Thursday, January 2, 2020.
WHAT ELSE? Richland Facilities Services personnel will announce, via the campus-wide public address system, at the beginning of these audible alarm tests that “This is a test of the Richland College fire alarm system. This is only a test. Please do not evacuate.” When all the tests are completed, the message “Tests are complete” will be announced.
WHAT IF? In the event a true emergency were coincidently to occur during the testing, the public address message would indicate the proper instructions for the situation.
HOW ELSE? This annual inspection is being funded by the Richland College Facilities Services general operational budget.
WHAT ELSE? Please pardon any temporary interruption and inconvenience this vital testing may cause. Your understanding and cooperation are appreciated during this work.
