T-Dust Alert #65 – Modernization of Air Conditioning System – Guadalupe Hall Upper Floor
WHAT? Work will be conducted to replace all air conditioning control boxes located above the ceiling. The air conditioning system will operate normally during the work with no outages anticipated.
WHERE? The replacement work will be conducted only in Guadalupe Hall, specifically in the small gym, main hallway, and offices.
WHEN? The work is scheduled to begin on Friday night, June 9, and be completed by Wednesday, July 17, and will be conducted only at night between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
WHY? The existing control boxes, operated pneumatically, date back to the original building construction in the early 1970s. These boxes are being replaced by state-of-the-art digital controllers to improve energy efficiency and comfort and in support of the college energy plan.
WHO? Trane is the outside contractor hired to complete the work.
HOW? All current ceiling tile will be removed and stored so it can be reused. All affected areas will be cleaned each night and in order for normal daily operations.
HOW MUCH? The project cost is $83,900, and is being funded with District maintenance funding.
