T-Dust Alert #10 – Gymnasium Bleacher Replacement

WHAT? New bleachers are being installed in Richland’s gymnasium.

WHY? This long-overdue upgrade will provide improved safety, seating capacity, and convenience for the numerous athletic and college events hosted in the gym throughout the year.

WHEN? The removal of the existing bleachers is taking place from May 10 to May 17, and the installation of the new bleachers will take place from July 12 to August 2.  Following the bleacher installation, the gym floor will be refinished August 3 to August 10.

HOW? This project is funded through Richland’s fund balance.

HOW MUCH? The design work cost $15,980, and the removal and replacement of the bleachers is funded at $176,300.

WHAT ELSE? In Richland’s ongoing commitment to sustainable local and world community, all metal from the demolition of the bleachers will be delivered to a metal recycling company.  The project’s recycle bin will be positioned on the grass on the parking lot side of the gym and not blocking a road or on a sidewalk.
