T-Dust Alert #50 – Richland College Architectural Master Plan Update Sessions

WHAT?  Richland College and Richland College Garland Campus are collaborating with the architectural firm Corgan Associates, Inc. to update the college’s Architectural Master Plan, a requirement of ongoing accreditation compliance with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

HOW?  Two Open Forums and six Focused Input Sessions will be conducted with architects and facility planning consultants to collect college-wide input in identifying current and future strategic facilities and infrastructure space needs.

WHY?  The Open Forums and Focused Input Sessions are necessary for the architects and facility planning consultants to understand Richland College’s present and future space needs for the next five to ten years.

WHY ELSE?  Richland College Senior Leadership must be positioned to anticipate any changing student and community demographics and educational needs to align strategically our academic programs, student support services, and facilities in support of our four Strategic Planning Priority Goals for Student Learning.  The information would also be necessary in preparing for any future Capital Improvement Plan bond funds that might become available.

WHO?  All faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend one of the Open Forums. These sessions will allow the opportunity to voice opinions and share ideas and concerns in regard to school, division, departmental, and workgroup space needs.

WHEN?  The Open Forums and Focused Input Sessions will be conducted on March 18 and March 19 according to the attached schedule.  Please study the schedule to determine the sessions designated for you to attend to provide input.

WHERE?  All March 18 Focused Input Sessions and the Open Forum One for faculty and students are scheduled in Sabine Hall SH118.  All March 19 focused input sessions and the Open Forum Two are scheduled in Uvalde U103.

HOW FUNDED?  The $182,000 budget needed to update our 12-year-old Architectural Master Plan will be provided by funds from the College Fund Balance.

WHO ELSE?  Richland College’s Senior Leadership and Facilities Services staff will use this Architectural Master Plan for existing space planning purposes and to develop a facilities utilities and physical expansion plan.
