Richland Music Presents Fall Concert Series

Richland Music kicks off the Fall 2010 concert series with the Fall Symphonic Concert at 8 p.m., Tues., Oct. 26, in Fannin Performance Hall. Between Oct. 26 and Dec. 2, Richland will present eight evening concerts showcasing the wide range of talents of Richland students and faculty from instrumental to choral. All concerts will be held in Fannin Performance Hall and are free and open to the public.

Richland continues to build a strong presence in the music community. “Richland College is fortunate to have these groups as the only community college in North Texas to have a wind symphony, string orchestra, and chambers groups,” said Derrick Logozzo, Director of Instrumental Music. Other concerts in the series will focus on guitar, brass, choral, jazz, percussion, and student composer performances. “With the introduction of the newly formed Men’s Chorale, the Richland College Choral Department will now present over 100 singers on stage and has become the largest community college choral department in North Texas,” explained Dr. Michael Crawford, Director of Choral Music.

  • The Fall Symphonic Concert at 8 p.m., Tues, Oct. 26, will feature performances by Richland Percussion Group, Derrick Logozzo, director; Chamber Woodwinds, Sharon Deuby, director; Chamber Brass, Michael Hayes, director; Chamber Strings, April Kondrat, director; Richland Wind Symphony, Derrick Logozzo, director; and Richland String Ensemble, Dr. Paul Bonneau, director.
  • The Fall Guitar and Brass Concert at 8 p.m., Tues., Nov. 2, will feature performances by Richland Guitar Ensemble, Jan Ryberg, director, and Richland Early Brass Ensemble, Michael Hayes, director.
  • Jazz @ Richland at 8:00 p.m., Tues., Nov. 9, will feature performances by Jazz Combo, Brad Williams and Ron Jones, directors; Jazz Singers, Dr. Michael Crawford, director; and Jazz Ensemble, Ron Jones, director.
  • The Fall Choral Concert at 8 p.m., Fri., Nov. 19, will feature five choral ensembles including: Women’s Chorale, Gospel Choir, Chamber Singers, Jazz Singers, and will introduce the newly formed Men’s Chorale, Dr. Michael Crawford and Boriana Savova, directors.
  • The Evening Jazz Ensemble Concert at 7:30 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 11, will feature Phares Corder, director, and the Thursday Night Jazz Ensemble performing traditional big band music.
  • The Fall Symphonic Concert at 7:30 p.m., Tues., Nov. 23, will feature performances by Richland Wind Symphony, Derrick Logozzo, director; and Richland String Ensemble, Dr. Paul Bonneau, director as well as the Richland Percussion Group, Derrick Logozzo, director; Chamber Woodwinds, Sharon Deuby, director; Chamber Brass, Michael Hayes, director; Chamber Strings, April Kondrat, director. The Student Composers Concert at 7:30 p.m., Tues., Nov. 30, will feature compositions from the students of Dr. Paul Bonneau.
  • The Richland Percussion Group Concert at 7:30 p.m., Thurs., Dec. 2, is the final concert of the Fall that features performances from the Richland Percussion Group, Derrick Logozzo, director; Keyboard, Fusion, and Concert Percussion Ensembles and Soloists; the Richland Steel Sound Steel Band; and the Richland World Drumming Ensemble, Michael Kenny, director.
