“I Am Woman” featuring Missy Burton at Brazos Gallery, Jan. 14-Feb. 8

See the “I Am Woman” exhibit in the Brazos Gallery Jan. 14-Feb. 8. Artist Missy Burton’s powerful photography series tells the story of individual women who are all connected through their womanhood.

According to her website, “The woman is where all human life begins. She is a mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, grandmother, wife and matriarch. She is a teacher, student, doctor, lawyer, nurse, artist, athlete and politician. She is a nurturer, yet neglected. She is fearless, yet she is afraid. She is hopeful, yet she is hopeless. She is powerful, yet enslaved. At times she appears superhuman. Her essence is her superpower, and she is the only reason your legacy exists.”

An artist reception will be held from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 5. You can see the exhibit anytime the Brazos Gallery is open, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
