UTD writes about Richland’s TRI program

Student Success — Richland College’s Total Re-Integration (TRI) program was featured in the recent issue of “BrainHealth Research/Brain Matters,” a quarterly publication of the Center for BrainHealth at The University of Texas at Dallas. The TRI program assists students with traumatic brain injuries that cause them cognitive and social difficulties that make academic success challenging. This past spring, BrainHealth researchers offered the Strategic Memory Advanced Reasoning Training (SMART) program to Richland College TRI students as part of a research study examining the program’s benefits to individuals with traumatic brain injuries. Through the SMART training the TRI students demonstrated high-level, critical-thinking skills, increased proficiency completing day-to-day tasks and gains in organization and communication skills.
